Case Study · Equipment & Industrial

Rolodex to Revenue

An equipment dealer launched with decades of industry relationships and zero business infrastructure — no legal entity, no brand, no way for a referral to actually reach them. Zandra built the business from the ground up, and is now turning a career's worth of relationships into a repeatable sales funnel.

This is a material handling equipment dealer, launched independently after a long career spent building relationships across the industry. That career is the asset — a deep, established network already actively sending business. The founder knew it was necessary to build a strong foundation to give the business its best chance of growing.

Zandra was brought in at the very beginning to build the foundation from nothing: filing the legal entity, standing up a brand and a website, getting the business found and credible online, and putting basic financial systems in place. With that foundation live, the work has moved into its second phase — building the content and outreach systems that turn an already-strong reputation into a sales pipeline that doesn't depend on a phone call landing at the right moment.

Before

  • The founder knew they'd need the right partner to build the business right, and brought Zandra Group in from the start
  • After listening to what they wanted to achieve, these were the components set to build in Phase 1
  • A formal legal entity and a brand identity
  • A website, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, and Facebook presence
  • A Facebook Marketplace storefront to reach buyers directly
  • A bookkeeping and accounting system in place from day one
  • An inventory and document system built around how the business actually runs

Zandra Built

  • Filed the legal entity and formalized the business
  • Built brand identity, logo, and business materials from scratch
  • Designed and launched a website and a Facebook Marketplace storefront
  • Set up Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, and Facebook business presence
  • Implemented QuickBooks Online and connected the owner to a bookkeeper
  • Built an inventory and document management system aligned to how the business actually works
  • Now building the content and outreach engine that turns referral relationships into a sales funnel

After

  • The business exists as a formal, brand-visible entity in the market
  • First sale closed within one month of launch
  • Competing local dealers already recognize the new brand
  • Referrals now have a website, Google Business Profile, and social presence to land on
  • Financials tracked consistently through QuickBooks, with a bookkeeper in place
  • Inventory and documents live in one organized system, not scattered informally
  • A repeatable formation-to-launch model, now used for other trade clients

Completed — Phase 1, Business Formation + Foundation

Coaching

Before

Because of their experience and clear understanding of what it takes to run a successful business, the founder brought in Zandra Group to help build the technology and back-office systems to support it.

Built

Ongoing 1-on-1 coaching, not on AI workflows but on the practical technology of running a business day to day: using QuickBooks, keeping the website and Google Business Profile current, staying active on LinkedIn and Facebook.

After

An owner who can operate their own systems directly, instead of routing every small task through someone else.

Business formation & brand

Before

Getting the business formally established was the first priority the founder set — a legal entity and a brand identity to build everything else on top of.

Built

Company formation handled end to end, alongside a full brand identity — logo, business materials, and a name the market could start to recognize.

After

A real, formally registered business with a brand — not just a name people used to know from a previous job.

Digital presence

Before

Getting found online was identified early as a priority: a website, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, and Facebook, plus a presence on Facebook Marketplace, where a lot of activity in this category happens.

Built

A website, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn and Facebook business presence, and a Facebook Marketplace storefront — including outreach in Spanish to reach the bilingual buyer base active in that market.

After

A real, findable presence across every channel a buyer or referral is likely to check first — and the first sale closed within a month of launch.

RECOGNIZED

Local competing dealers had already noticed the new brand within weeks of launch — in a category where most competitors have operated for years.

Financial operations

Before

Financial tracking was one of the founder's first priorities — accounting in place from day one, not reconstructed later.

Built

QuickBooks Online, implemented from day one and paired with a bookkeeper, so financial tracking exists from the business's first transaction rather than being reconstructed later.

After

Consistent financial tracking and reporting in place from launch.

Inventory & document management

Before

An inventory and document system built around how the business actually runs was set as a Phase 1 priority, rather than letting informal habits take hold early on.

Built

A OneDrive-based inventory and document management system, built to match how the business actually operates rather than forcing a new process onto it.

After

Inventory and documents live in one organized system instead of scattered across memory and paper.

Referral relationships

Before

An established reputation and years of referral relationships built the traditional way — through relationships and word of mouth, not a formal tracking system. Systemizing that pipeline was set early as a Phase 2 priority.

Built

A public presence — website, Google Business Profile, social channels — that gives a referral somewhere real to land for the first time, alongside the start of a system to track and follow up on relationships instead of relying on memory.

After

Referrals now have somewhere to go beyond a phone call. Turning that into a full, trackable pipeline is the work underway now.

Next

Building the content and outreach engine that turns a career's worth of industry relationships into a repeatable, trackable sales funnel — instead of one-off referral conversations.

In Progress — Phase 2, Content Engine + Sales Funnel Build

  • Content: building a content engine that establishes the owner as a known, trusted voice in the industry — reinforcing the same reputation that already generates referrals informally
  • Outreach & sales funnel: building the system to capture, track, and follow up on referral relationships, turning a career of industry connections into a repeatable pipeline
  • Lead routing: automating inquiries from the Facebook Marketplace storefront into a CRM system instead of manual tracking
  • Market intelligence: ongoing competitor and pricing visibility for the hyper-local market

This engagement began before the business existed on paper — formation, brand, and go-to-market infrastructure built from nothing, then handed off with the systems in place to run it day to day. The formation-to-launch process built here has since become a repeatable model Zandra uses with other trade clients starting a business from scratch.
